This recipe video is featuring my eldest daughter’s favorite low carb meal, Potsticker Patties. It was developed originally from a recipe on Linda’s Low Carb recipe site (http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/pot_sticker_patties.html), which if you haven’t heard me brag up enough, let me do it again. The annotated recipes are simply the best! Without any further adieu, here’s the recipe:

HEATHER’S POTSTICKER PATTIES
Cabbage Mixture:
1.5 pounds green cabbage
1 small-medium onion, chopped,
2 cloves garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon granular Splenda
2 tablespoons oil

Meat Mixture:
2 pound ground pork
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 eggs
5 green onions, minced optional
Dash hot sauce
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil

Shred the cabbage in your food processor. To get really fine shreds, you can add the chopping blade as well. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a large wok or skillet over medium heat. Add cabbage mixture ingredients to the skillet and fry until the cabbage is wilted, and begins to stick to the bottom of the pan. Remove the mixture from the heat.

Add the meat mixture ingredients in a large bowl. Mix with with the cabbage mixture until well-incorporated. Take 4-5 oz scoops of the mixture, and form rough patties with them. This should make roughly 14 patties. Cook in skillet or George Foreman Grill for about 3-4 minutes per side.

Check out my misconception series of videos. I talk about many of these myths and the studies that refute them. The heart disease (one about cholesterol) one is most fun to refute as the evidence is so clear to the contrary. All factors of heart disease from high LDL, low HDL, and triglycerides are improved on this diet.

I can understand the skepticism as I was there myself, but I committed to doing it for 6 mos and then check for myself. All my risk factors disappeared.

@Animanga25 n my? research I found Dr. Adkins was right all along. Fat is not dangerous! Many nutrients are fat soluble so you need it to get the right nutrition. High carb food especially processed and enriched along with refined sugar is the real cause of obesity..I Good research book Good Calories, Bad Calories by Gary Taubes
Do not believe the media or AMA when it comes to nutrition …I have lost and kept 70lbs off throwing away all conventional wisdom.
Get rid of Bread, Beer and Sugar!

I have made these …
I have made these twice now – first as the patties and 2nd time I just put the meat mixture in the pan with the cabbage so it was like a “hamburger helper” type meal…only pork instead of beef….and cabbage instead of pasta…LOL
Everyone needs to try this – it was a hit with my husband and 4 year old as well!

I’m almost …
I’m almost convinced to try Atkins because I’m very overweight, but I’m scared of the supposed risks (high fat= heart disease, etc.) but hope to overcome it. Last thing I need is to do intense cardio (as usual now) then collapse randomly. As you can tell I’m no nutrition by any means, I can only go by what I read. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated! BTW those patties look delicious. ^_^

I can understand the reaction to great LC Chinese food that is simple to make. My wife has made the comment that there is no point going out anymore and being disappointed when you can make it better at home.

Simply fantastic news re: 105!

If you really want to spice it up, add the hot sauce that I forgot to add in the video. :-) The amount is in the video description.

Many of those …
Many of those things are certainly allowed on Atkins, and it might pay to adjust the cabbage down if you were to add them. The next one should be up next week. I already have the recipe I want to do in my head. There will be one other video before that though.

As for cleaning the GF, I agree. I have to clean it right away when it is still warm. That is the only way I keep from throwing it out.

Thanks for that. I think the Foreman grill makes sense here but not for easy clean-up reasons. I rarely use my Foreman grill because I hate to clean it with those ridges and all.

I would use a bigger mixing bowl too. I’m sure the patties are good. I would add more veggies like shredded carrots, bean sprouts, peppers, etc. Then I am not on Atkins so don’t know how flexible your food plan is. Looking forward to your next cooking video ;-)
