Haha if you know what it is without googling it (yeah i know you all don’t use this thing to search or the email, just for the answer service) & you eat this, you are a straight up awesome in my books.
(you’ll know why)
why do they call it this? ’sweetbreads’?
They are the thymus and/or pancreas glands of beef, lamb, or pork. There are two kinds "heart" and "throat" though the names are just related to their shape. The heart is better than the throat. And they are darn tasty.
Edit: To answer your second part: It’s not known for sure why they are called Sweetbreads but most believe it is a combination of the Old English words "sweete" which just means sweet (the sweetbreads have a sweeter, less savory flavor than the muscle tissure) and "bræd" meaning "flesh"

Ew. I do, but in truth, I can’t say I have ever (or will ever) eat them! I have a general rule that says only muscle tissue is considered "meat".

Sweetbreads are the thymus glands and pancreas glands of lamb, beef, or pork. They are basically something that most people would throw away. God bless whoever decided to fry them up one day. The throw away part of meat just happens to be some of the best tasting.
