VEGETARIAN SPAGHETTI SALAD TACO THINGEES!

I made this vid back on 9/14/09 and I didn’t post it then as I thought I came across as a “Spiritual Space Cadet,” but now that I know that I actually AM a Spiritual Space Cadet & that you, my friendly viewer, could use the comedic relief that such a thing provides, I offer this lovely recipe to you today!

Oh, and this recipe just happens to be a PERFECT hearty recipe to keep you full & satisfied this fall & winter!

CAVEAT: Before you get mad at me for lovingly referring to some of my commenters as aliens, you have to listen to what I say at the end of this vid! And by the way…I am an alien. :D

Dan’s quotable deep thought of the day:
“IT’S GETTING LATER MUCH SOONER!”

? SPAGHETTI SALAD TACO THINGEES! ?

* I n g r e d i e n t s *
For the TOMATO SAUCE (aka DRESSING):
— 4-6 Roma Tomatoes, roughly chopped
— 1 pint Cherry Tomatoes
— a few leaves of fresh Basil
— a few leaves of fresh Oregano
— a few leaves of fresh Thyme
— 1 Lime

For the TACO “MEAT”:
— 1-2 Yellow Zucchinis (aka Courgettes)
— 2-4 RAW cobs of Corn

For the TACO “SHELLS”
— Romaine Lettuce Leaves

* P r e p a r a t i o n *
— 1) To make the sauce (aka dressing), toss the chopped Roma tomatoes, cherry tomatoes & fresh herbs into your Vita-Mix, or other high-powered blender of your choice. http://BLEND.life-regenerator.com

— 2) Squeeze the juice of one lime over the top, and blend on high speed until desired consistency is reached. Use a citrus squeezer if possible, as you will get a lot more juice out. http://CITRUS-SQUEEZER.life-regenerator.com

— 3) To make the taco “meat,” turn the zucchinis into “noodles” by running them through your food processor with the SHREDDER blade in place. http://FOOD-PROCESSOR.life-regenerator.com

— 4) Slice the RAW corn off of the cobs with a good, sharp knife (my favorite: http://KNIFE.life-regenerator.com ), and mix it together with the zucchini noodles in a large bowl.

— 5) Fill each romaine lettuce leaf with the corn & zucchini mixture, drizzling some of your tomato sauce over the top…and there you have it, a “TACO!” Serve, and enjoy! :D

* I n s p i r a t i o n *
— So yeah, being a Spiritual Space Cadet could have something to do with the fact that I’ve been chanting the name of God during meditation…

— One of my favorite spiritual books to read (regularly over & over) is the following book by Swami Sivananda, who in my opinion is a self-realized sage:

Sadhana: A Textbook of the Psychology & Practice of the Techniques to Spiritual Perfection

You can find it in our store right here: http://SPIRITUAL.life-regenerator.com

— The world is disappearing…as in all the fears & the doubts! Everything is up to God! As my homeboy Jesus said, the kingdom of heaven is within you.

— I’m sensitive to everything it seems lately…my taste buds taste flavors more easily, so more subtlety-tasting foods have been good for me. Things like garlic & onions don’t feel good to me right now!

— So I’m becoming more of a frugivore lately & you are welcome to come with me…or not! There is no right or wrong.

— There is a feeling in my heart lately…a lightness…

— I don’t really know anything except what I experience myself! All I can do is observe…

— IMHO, I don’t believe that anyone can be separate from God!

— I love you! God loves you! And I even love the weird comments I get!

Love, Dan

This video is a reaction to a critic who claimed that low carb failures “FAR exceeds” those attempting low fat or moderation diet. Coincidentally at the same time I discovered a meta-analysis study of the major randomized trials of low carb at that point. In the end however, it only matters if you the dieter are successful and motivated to reach goal on your selected plan or way of eating. Others success or failure can’t help or derail you unless you let it fuel your self-doubt. I personally just can’t imagine a different way of eating.

Here is the meta-analysis study:
“Effects of Low-Carbohydrate vs Low-Fat Diets on Weight Loss and Cardiovascular Risk Factors
A Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials”
Alain J. Nordmann, MD, MSc; Abigail Nordmann, BS; Matthias Briel, MD; Ulrich Keller, MD; William S. Yancy, Jr, MD, MSH; Bonnie J. Brehm, PhD; Heiner C. Bucher, MD, MPH
Arch Intern Med. 2006;166:285-293.

** Link to the summation data for the trials – http://archinte.ama-assn.org/cgi/content-nw/full/166/3/285/IRA50015T2″

Here is the summation of the adherence or completion data:

and heart disease risk reduction: a randomized trial. JAMA. 2005;293:43-53.
Low Carb – 52% vs. Low Fat 50%

Here is the additional studies I referenced:
Low-carbohydrate diet in type 2 diabetes: stable improvement of bodyweight and glycemic control during 44 months follow-up
Jörgen V Nielsen and Eva A Joensson
Nutr Metab (Lond). 2008; 5: 14.

“In addition, we assessed the performance of the two thirds of control patients from the high-carbohydrate diet group that had changed to a low-carbohydrate diet after the initial 6 month observation period. …
Seven of the 15 controls switched to a 20% carbohydrate diet immediately after the 6 months follow-up period. For those we have data 3234 months after the change. Three more controls sought information and attempted to change diet later at various dates.”

Weight Loss with a Low-Carbohydrate, Mediterranean, or Low-Fat Diet
http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/full/359/3/229
“The overall rate of adherence (Figure 1) was 95.4% at 12 months and 84.6% at 24 months; the 24-month adherence rates were 90.4% in the low-fat group, 85.3% in the Mediterranean-diet group, and 78.0% in the low-carbohydrate group (P=0.04 for the comparison among diet groups).”

GSG DESIGN COMPETITION

Making submachine guns without proper licensing through the BATF constitutes a serious crime.

Designing them however, does not.

In the spirit of American freedom and ingenuity, I propose this competition for the design of a General Submachine Gun (GSG).

“General” means that the goal is to design a submachine gun that could be generally produced by nearly anyone.

DESIGN SUBMISSIONS

Submit designs with names and revision numbers as appropriate. Provide links to design drawings for review.

JUDGING AND SCORING
Each design will be judged by the following design specifics:

1-May contain elements from other designs, but the whole design must be easily considered original.
2-plausibly built with common shop tools.
3-consist largely of available materials.
4-general design (not engineered to specs). A GSG may be made in many locations. A general design allows for local variations, innovations and supplemented parts.
5-incorporate the reliability of a “sloppy” action. This feature is easier to produce and functions better in adverse conditions.
6-must be compact enough for covert operations.
7-must use conventional ammo.
8-full-auto operation.
9-no complicated accessories. (ie. proprietary or engineered parts, ect.)
10-low cost.
11-able to be reliably kept in a safe mode.

Anyone can be a judge, but judges must judge all design entries.

For each of the 11 rules, each judge will judge designs on a scale of 0 to 9.
0 means the design DOES NOT meet the requirement at all.
9 means the design meets the design requirement PERFECTLY.

A perfect score would be 99. The worst possible score would be 0.

EXAMPLES
GhostReconMan (Judge)
gunsRus003b — (1)9, (2)4, (3)7, (4)7, (5)8, (6)7, (7)0, (8)7, (9)5, (10)7, (11)5

Post your scoring here in this thread. Running score will be averaged and updated.

Judges must FIRST practice with a scoring of sample design notthistimenetGSG001, found at:

http://img443.imageshack.us/i/notthistimenetgsg001.jpg/

This competition does not involve the making of weapons, just plausible designs for them. Making weapons can be dangerous and illegal.
