Diet and Weightloss

I’m looking to try out something similar to a velocity diet or metabolic diet. Over the past few days I’ve reading about weight loss and have come up with a plan for myself. I would like for some of you to give me some feedback.
Height: 6′1 and change
Weight(last known):200lbs
Things I consume throughout the day:
Liquid Vitamin, Protein shakes, liquid fiber, frozen chicken patty, frozen chicken fried steak patty, universal animal pak cuts. Now, if I eat that everyday, with 3 protein shakes a day I come out with these totals:
Calories:1315 Carbs:72g Fat:45g Protein:162g

I do cardio every day whether its running or on a bike or both, also I lift weights everyday. One thing I can already see that could be wrong with my current diet is the low calories and the slightly high amount of carbs.

Yeah, your calories should be higher, and your carbs should be lower. I know you’re trying to find a velocity or metabolic way but it can only be one way.

Be sure to eat 5-6 meals a day, protein in each meal if possible. Also I would go for fresh foods rather than frozen foods. Just my choice.

So far it seems decent, see how it works out. Be aware that if you have low protein and low calories, but you’re doing a lot of cardio, you may be losing fat, but you are also losing muscle. Lift weights then do cardio at the end. Work one or two muscle groups per day. 5 days a week, 2 days off.
Good luck.

? Cold Thai Summer Vegetable Stew ?

* I n g r e d i e n t s *
…..All quantities in this recipe are up to you! Use your intuition. ;-)
— 1 Young Coconut (water)
— Carrots, several to be juiced
— Carrots, a few to be chopped
— Peas, shelled
— Cherry Tomatoes
— Kale, with leaves torn off of stems
— Collard Greens, with leaves torn off of stems
— Red Chard, with leaves torn off of stems
— Lettuce
— Garlic Cloves
— Optional Additions…only if you need them!: sea salt, olive oil, hot pepper, avocado, corn

* P r e p a r a t i o n *
— 1) Open the young coconut—refer to this video if you need help: http://bit.ly/u9Q4j —and pour its water into your Vita-Mix, or other high-powered blender of your choice. http://bit.ly/GZsuq or http://bit.ly/3OTXD9

— 2) Add chopped carrots, shelled peas & cherry tomatoes, followed by all the leafy greens: kale, collard greens, lettuce & red chard (make sure to tear the leaves off of the thick stems first!), and any of the optional additions you might need.

— 3) Lightly blend in your Vita-Mix, but not too much…you’ll want to leave it looking like a chunky stew…and then transfer to individual soup bowls.

— 4) Run the carrots you designated for juicing through your Breville juicer, or whatever the best juicer is for you. http://bit.ly/mIrEW

— 5) Serve soup with a pitcher of carrot juice offered on the side. The carrot juice allows people to thin out, sweeten and/or tone down a spicy soup, so as to suit their individual taste buds.

— 6) Enjoy!

While dieters may be attracted to diet plans promoted by celebrities, they should be careful of taking the word of individuals who probably have no nutritional or medical training and who are likely to be just good salespeople. Consumers are advised to question celebrity-inspired diet books, say Annette B. Natow and Jo-Ann Heslin, authors of Get Skinny the Smart Way. These books may be based on nutritional fictions, and while the diets described in such books may provide weight loss in the short term, they may be unhealthy when followed for any significant length of time. Dieters should choose to follow plans established by nutritional experts.

Diet fads aren’t limited to programs sponsored by celebrities. The so-called grapefruit diet, which requires eating a grapefruit before each meal, has been a popular fad diet for some time. Other fad diets include the cabbage soup diet in which unlimited amounts of cabbage soup may be consumed, or the raw egg diet in which dieters eat all the raw eggs they can handle. Fad diets may recommend eating only raw foods or fasting every other day. These diets are based on misinformation and may even be dangerous. The cabbage soup diet, for example, has not been endorsed by any major health organization, and it could actually cause harm. The diet claims to provide losses as high as 15 pounds per week, but does not mention that most of this is water. The American Heart Association notes that this diet can be dangerous, and once dieters eat normally again, they will regain their lost weight. Side-effects associated with this diet include weakness, pains in the stomach, and diarrhea.

Another fad diet approach is food combining. The rationale behind this diet states that people are overweight because they do not consume the appropriate combination of foods. The diet may require its followers to do arbitrary things, like eat a banana only in the morning. This is nonsense, since the stomach can handle a variety of foods at one time. The diet does promote eating low-calorie foods, but there are better methods available that will accomplish the same thing.

Some weight-loss companies claim that weight can be lost by dreaming. By using their product before bed, dieters will lose weight. This claim is totally incredible. It is impossible to lose any significant number of calories while sleeping. Other questionable diets promote the loss of weight through eating special candy bars or milkshakes. These products generally consist of milk and candy to which Vitamins and minerals have been added. They rarely satisfy the appetite and may actually encourage dieters to eat more throughout the day.

The truth is that there is a lot of money to be made in the marketing and sale of diet products. As long as there are overweight people, companies will try to profit from them. Dieters must become wise enough to recognize a fad diet for what it is. There are no short cuts to weight loss. A successful program requires commitment, patience, and determination, as well as a willingness to alter eating patterns.

they did it as a precaution because during couple of months the wheat gluten was supplied by the same company which supplied for Menu foods and small amounts of melamine were found.

It concerns dry food Hill’s Feline m/d 4 and 10 lb bags.

Are you as worried as I am about commercial pet foods and that there may be many more foods affected? Are you prepared to start to cook for your cats? And would you like me to put some home made recipes together including prescription diets? I could contact a few vets and publish it on a website http://www.catbehaviortraining.com/catrecipes and you could contribute too if you have some good recipes.

In the mean time I have published a few recipes from a holistic vet on:

http://www.catbehaviortraining.com/ajonesptfr.html

But if there is enough interest I could add more recipes including weight loss and renal diets on this site: http://www.catbehaviortraining.com/catrecipes

Been giving my cats (one is diabetic)people food for a long time for exactly the above reason. … a bunch of cats got killed and there are no charges filed…if it was cornflakes or baked beans someone would be going to jail….as for what to cook…frozen cooked prawns are easy when you are in a rush in the morning……just pour boiling water on top to defrost..or canned tuna in spring water…..frozen cod/haddock boiled for about 10 min at dinner….usually supplement with cooked slice meat from the deli…for snacks during the day if i am home…occasionally they will eat steak or minced beef or fried chicken (i get a big bag frozen from tesco)….tuna is about the same price as cat food so it makes sense if you care about your cats well being…plus if you do the research on what goes into cat food (apart from the occasional poisoning) you will likely make the change.

In addition, a bunch of the big pet food companies badly mistreat animals so i don’t like to buy from them.

I have heard of people losing 100 pounds in two months and 13 pounds in 2 days so i know its possible but how. I already know the risks or whatever but just want a rapid diet.

And no wasteful posts of cutting limbs please.

Thanks.

I`ve tried this on myself so i can guarantee it works and is very healthy!! Try a WHOLE BODY CLEANSE. It costs about $30 and you can find it at any Health food store!! The one i`m doing right now it`s a 30 day cleanse. It`s called "Cleanse SMART" It`s a program designed to cleanse and detoxify the body through it`s normal channels of elimination. It`s herb based, very healthy and first time i did it i lost 20 lbs in 1 month. They give you suggestions about your diet, not a calorie count, just stuff like : , brown rice, quinoa , 8-10 glasses of water a day, fruits and veggies, chicken, no beef, turkey, fish, eggs.

I need workouts that can help me lose weight quickly. Diets are ok, but I’m fairly young and I can’t use my money on weightloss diet pills, acai berry, tea, etc etc. so can u help? I’m planning on working out every day so if you could help me out that would be great! PLZ!!!

EXERCISE, is key. I would start off with running/jogging every day.
This will get your blood flowing and boost your metablolism. You will also start to feel better and want to exercise.
Then try doing some crunches/sit ups this will help build some muscle.
Bicycling, jump roping, and cleaning(believe it or not) also will help you lose calories.

EATING HABITS, that’s a major thing people forget about as thier livers progress. As a kid, you were able to eat fast food and chips all the time and not gain much weight. Now that you are getting older your body needs more care. Try eating lean meats or tofu, drinking lots of water, cutting out sodas (They are full of sugar that turns to fat, and no diet soda isn’t okay, it’s worst.), eat fruits and vegtables, and maybe try taking a multi-vitamin or something of the kind.

SLEEP, is also a contributing factor to weight gain, when you sleep, believe it or not, you lose weight, BUT this does not mean to sleep all day long because that’s bad too.

EATING, is important, DO NOT starve yourself, it will lead to more problems and few pounds will be lost. You should eat 4-5 SMALL meals a day. This will help boost your immune system.

SNACKING is bad, but can be good depending on what you choose.
Pretzels, yogurt, trail mix, protien drink, smoothies, cereal, non-fat milk, fruit, vegtables, salad, and granola bars are just some of the many good snaking foods.

BREAKFAST, is the most important meal of your day, believe it or not, it’s what starts your metabolism. So, eat breakfast everyday, but make good choices. These include: low-fat milk, juice, water, eggs, lean breakfast meats, waffles (in moderation), etc.

Hope this helps

Theres a lot of diet plans out there that will going to promise you quick weight loss but it doesnt necessarily mean that that diet plans are going to be healthy. To do things the right way, you need to do them sensibly. Do that, and youll not only lose weight, but youll keep your health, too. Lets take a look at some things that you can do so that your diet plan supports your health; more than that, though, it can help you with some quick weight loss at the same time.

….and NOT 3fatchicks….I would like to find a site that is popular and helpful….some place I can maybe have a weight loss buddy. – Thank you!

I like www.sparkpeople.com

It has trackers for the foods/calories you take in, personal goals like drinking more water or eating more protein, and exercise.

Government regulatory agencies are usually not big fans of weight-loss supplements. In January 2007, for example, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) fined four supplement companies a total of $25 million for making what the FTC said were unscientific claims about their weight-loss products.

I’m sensitive to such a slight (even if I think the FTC was right in this case) because I’m the co-author of a book about science-backed vitamin and herbal Supplements that can aid weight loss, The Natural Fat-Loss Pharmacy (Broadway, 2007).

I wrote the book with Harry Preuss, MD, a professor at Georgetown University Medical Center, a researcher with more than 300 scientific studies to his credit, a nutritionist, and a world-class expert in using natural remedies for weight-loss.

Dr. Preuss and I were very careful to present only the Vitamins, herbs and food factors that study after study shows can safely and effectively help you lose weight-by gently boosting metabolism…or slowing the body’s fat-making machinery…or reducing appetite…or building calorie-burning muscle…or blocking the absorption of fats and carbohydrates.

The natural remedies featured in the book include (get ready for a barrage of acronyms):

? EGCG (green tea extract)
? CLA (conjugated linoleic acid)
? HCA (hydroxycitric acid)
? MCT (medium-chain triglycerides)
? Chromium
? Chitosan and other soluble fibers
? 5-HTP (5-hydroxy-L-tryptophan)
? HMB

And there’s one more weight-loss remedy on that list. It’s a natural substance so effective, that the FDA has given permission for products containing it to include on their labels the fact that the supplement works.

The ingredient is a carbohydrate digestive enzyme inhibitor, or what is more commonly known as a starch-blocker.

Extracted from white kidney beans, it works by blocking the action of alpha amylase, the digestive enzyme that breaks down starch in the intestines. The result: it prevents a portion of the carbohydrates in any high-carb food (like pasta, bread or potatoes) from being absorbed.

And that’s a good thing if your diet includes lots of refined carbohydrates from white bread and white flour, which are often stored in the body as fat. With carb-blockers, you can have your cake (or at least an occasional slice) and eat it too.

In 2005, Dr. Preuss helped conduct a 1-month Italian study on carb-blockers. The researchers gave either starch-blockers or a placebo to 60 overweight but healthy people, aged 25 to 45, who ate a carbohydrate-rich diet of 2000- to 2500-calories a day. Their weight was measured at the beginning and end of the 1-month study.

The people taking the starch blockers lost 10 times more weight than the people taking the placebo-6.6 pounds, compared to 0.6.

A year earlier, researchers at the UCLA School of Medicine found that dieters taking a starch-blocker lost twice as much weight as people taking a placebo.

In both cases, the researchers were studying Phase 2, a starch-blocker ingredient used in many brands, like Carb Intercept from Natrol, Carb Shredder from Vitamin Shoppe, Carbo Tame from Jarrow Formulas, Phase 2 from Now, and Starch Blocker from CVS.

In November 2006, the FDA told the manufacturers of Phase 2, Pharmachem Laboratories, Inc., they could use the following two statements on products containing Phase 2:

May assist in weight control when used in conjunction with a sensible diet and exercise program, and

May reduce the enzymatic digestion of dietary starches.

If you decide to take a carb-blocker, here are a few helpful tips from Dr. Preuss. Take it with 8-ounces of water to help absorb the supplement. Take it with a meal, either right before or right after. And follow the dosage recommendation on the label.

And remember that carb-blockers are not miracle pills. (There are no miracle diet pills.) You can’t eat a couple of doughnuts every day and take carb-blockers and not gain weight.

If you’d like to know more about carb-blockers or any of the weight-loss supplements mentioned in this article, please take a look at my book, The Natural Fat-Loss Pharmacy. You can find out more about it-and my other books on health and healing-at www.drugfreehealing.com.
