im having my gf come over this weekend so i can cook her favorite thing to eat…steak…heres the problem. i usually cook it on the grill but my dad went to texas for the nascar race and took the grill with him. so if anyone has a good recipe for cooking a steak please share!!
ok stupid question. its there a "broiling pan" i need to use or is a it fine to use a sheet i make cookies on?

I found that a cast iron skillet works best. I learned this technique from Alton Brown (the smartest chef in the world in my opinion). And don’t worry this method can be used with any thickness of steak (except for fillet mignon perhaps).

Pop a cast iron skillet in the oven at 400 degrees. Let it pre-heat for about an hour before cooking to get the skillet piping hot.

Prep your steaks by lightly coating both sides with safflower oil (rather than canola or vegetable because safflower oil won’t burn off as quickly as the rest causing so your steaks won’t stick to the pan as badly). Sprinkle kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper on both sides.

Set your timer and cook the steaks between 2-4 minutes on each side depending on how well you want your steaks cooked.

Rest the meat for 2 minutes by placing a bowl in the center of a large plate and positioning your steaks so that it sits on the side of the bowl with one end touching the plate in order for the fat to trickle out. Cover the entire thing with foil to keep warm then serve.

Hope this helps. Believe me it’s quicker and easier than it looks and the steaks come out perfect every time for us!

I just got a G5 Foreman Grill, it hardly includes any recipes. It comes with the waffle plates but no recipe…go figure! Could you please share your favorite waffle recipe that would work well with my new grill.

My George Foreman G5 came with The Next Grilleration G5 Cookbook by Deb Roussou, didn’t yours?

To cook two 5.5" by 7" waffles, it takes about three to four minutes and it is basically the same operation as any other waffle maker. After making the batter and preheating the grill (with the proper plates attached), I spray it with non-stick spray, pour about 1/3 cup of batter onto the bottom plates, close the top and wait a few minutes until I get perfect waffles that are easy to remove and taste great!

Here is the easy recipe I use!

Best Waffles Ever

(5 servings)

1 and 3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 Tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 beaten egg yolks
1 and 3/4 cups milk
1/2 cup vegtable oil
3 egg whites – beaten stiffly
Mix all dry ingredients. Combine yolks and milk. Stir into dry ingredients. Stir in oil and mix. GENTLY fold in beaten egg whites, do not over mix.

Pour about 1/3 cup at a time into waffle iron on the grill..

So light and so fluffy!
